Central Asian Transactions on Materials Structure and Properties

1. Ethical Principles

Central Asian Transactions on Materials Structure and Properties is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures to prevent publication malpractice. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical principles in scholarly publishing and is guided by the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

All parties involved in the publication process — authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher — are expected to adhere to these ethical standards.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to the journal must ensure that their work is original and has not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.

Authors are responsible for:

  • presenting accurate and honest research results;
  • properly citing all sources and acknowledging the work of others;
  • ensuring that all listed authors have made a significant contribution to the research;
  • disclosing any financial or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of the work;
  • ensuring compliance with ethical standards related to research involving human participants, animals, or hazardous materials, where applicable.

Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism and improper paraphrasing, is unacceptable.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based solely on the academic merit of manuscripts, their originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Editors must:

  • ensure a fair and unbiased peer review process;
  • maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts;
  • avoid conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when necessary;
  • take appropriate action when ethical concerns are raised regarding a submitted or published manuscript.

Editors shall not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research.

4. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers contribute to editorial decisions by providing objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of manuscripts.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • treat all manuscripts as confidential documents;
  • provide fair and unbiased reviews supported by clear arguments;
  • identify relevant published work that has not been cited;
  • inform the editors of any potential conflicts of interest;
  • report any suspected ethical misconduct, plagiarism, or duplication.

Reviewers must not use information obtained during the peer review process for personal advantage.

5. Peer Review Integrity

All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a double-blind peer review process. The identities of authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure objectivity and impartiality.

Manipulation of the peer review process, including the submission of fabricated reviewer information, is strictly prohibited.

6. Plagiarism and Misconduct

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or other forms of publication misconduct.

Manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software. If misconduct is suspected before or after publication, the editorial board will investigate the case in accordance with COPE guidelines. Depending on the severity of the violation, actions may include:

  • rejection of the manuscript;
  • retraction of the published article;
  • notification of the authors’ institutions or funding bodies.

7. Conflicts of Interest

All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the objectivity of the publication process. Conflicts of interest may include financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships.

Failure to disclose relevant conflicts of interest may result in corrective action.

8. Corrections and Retractions

The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. When significant errors or ethical violations are identified, the journal will publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate.

Retractions are issued in cases of proven misconduct or unreliable findings and are clearly identified and linked to the original article.

9. Data Transparency and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to ensure transparency of research data and methodologies to allow verification and reproducibility of results, where applicable.

10. Complaints and Appeals

The journal considers complaints and appeals regarding editorial decisions, peer review, or ethical issues seriously. All complaints are handled fairly and confidentially, following established editorial procedures and COPE recommendations.

11. Compliance with Ethical Standards

By submitting a manuscript to Central Asian Transactions on Materials Structure and Properties authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement.
