The given article is devoted to the features of the population changes and the setting of the most numerous nations of the Kazakhstan from 1999 to 2006. The special attention is given to the native-born population. With the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakhs become a state-forming ethnic group, which actualizes the study of dynamic changes in their numbers and settlement patterns. The presented work examines changes in the number of the Kazakh ethnic group in the period 1999-2006. There are tables and diagrams defining the population changes, the setting of the most numerous nations in Kazakhstan’s regions, towns and villages. On the analysis of the above-named constituents of the demographic processes the author comes to a conclusion that nowadays we observe the stabilization of the demographic setting under the domination of the endogenous cause in the population’s evolution. In comparison with the previous period (1991-1999), the total population of the republic, including the number of Kazakhs, is increasing. The methodological basis of the study was a system of methods. The main general historical methods were used in the work: historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-typological, historical-systemic. The noted methods were used in conjunction with general scientific methods - analysis, synthesis, description, explanation. Along with this, statistical, demographic, and mathematical methods were used in the article. The results of the study can be used in scientific works on the study of demographic processes of the Kazakh ethnic group at the beginning of the 21st century. The findings of the work can be used in preparation for classes on demography, history, ethnology, political science, and sociology. The study can form the basis for teaching and practical manuals on issues of demography, history, ethnology, political science, and sociology.
