Endowment funds play a crucial role in ensuring the sustainable financing of educational institutions worldwide. These funds are formed through private donations and invested to generate income that supports and develops educational programs. In engineering education, endowment funds are especially significant as they help finance costly scientific research, equip laboratories with advanced technologies, and maintain high standards of specialist training. International experience demonstrates diverse approaches to using endowment funds to support engineering education, contributing both to national economic development and to strengthening universities' positions in the global academic arena. In this regard, the article explores how endowment funds are applied in foreign countries.
Currently, in Kazakhstan, financing through endowment funds is becoming an important aspect of higher education development. These funds aim to create effective and transparent mechanisms for voluntary contributions from individuals and organizations, expand the financial base of universities, and enhance their fiscal stability.
To gain a comprehensive view of endowment financing in higher education and assess its development trends, this article analyzes scientific publications and related materials. The results of the study expand the theoretical understanding of endowment financing in higher education, reveal methods of fund formation, and examine approaches to assessing their functioning in engineering universities, laying the foundation for future academic research.
