Abstract

This paper presents the results of experimental studies on the fine grinding of materials under different modes of vibrational impact. Three operation modes were analyzed: horizontal bidirectional impact, vertical unidirectional impact, and their combined application. A specially designed grinding unit developed by the authors enables simultaneous horizontal and vertical oscillatory loads to be applied to the grinding media. The results demonstrate that grinding efficiency strongly depends on the direction of the applied vibrational forces. The highest degree of size reduction was observed under the combined mode, where the average particle size decreased to 62 μm. The simultaneous action of impact and shear loads promotes multipath particle breakage, reduces stagnant zones, and increases the energy efficiency of the process. The findings confirm the effectiveness of combined vibrational impacts for intensifying fine grinding and can be used in the design of energy-efficient grinding equipment.
