REVIEW OF THE APPLICATION OF NANOSTRUCTURAL MATERIALS IN MEDICINE

Abstract

Despite numerous open access publications, the potential for using thin film coatings is enormous and still relatively untapped. Innovative developments in the field of nanotechnology are used in almost any industry: in medicine, mechanical engineering, aerospace, industry, agriculture, biology, cybernetics, electronics, and ecology. This paper provides an overview of the use of coatings to enhance the functionality of medical implants, stents, joint prostheses, and other devices.
