Abstract

Ecological processes have a significant impact on the migratory movements of ethnic groups, affecting both natural conditions and the socio-economic environment. Climate change, such as rising temperatures, droughts, floods, and other extreme weather events, can lead to a shortage of resources, including water and food. This, in turn, drives people to migrate in search of more favorable living conditions.

In addition, the destruction of ecosystems and the loss of biodiversity may force ethnic groups to abandon their historical lands, often leading to cultural assimilation and the loss of traditional knowledge. In regions where ecosystems are under threat, conflicts over resources tend to increase, further accelerating migration processes.

Ecological crises affect not only the natural environment but also the economic activities of ethnic groups: the decline of key livelihoods such as agriculture, livestock farming, and fishing promotes population displacement. As a result of migration processes, ethnic groups settling in new regions engage in cultural, linguistic, and social interaction with the local population, leading to the emergence of new forms of ethnocultural diversity.

Moreover, ecological migration processes often exacerbate political instability and social tensions, as competition for natural resources intensifies and migration flows become increasingly uncontrolled.

Thus, ecological changes can influence the migration of ethnic groups through both direct and indirect factors, forming new migration flows and altering the dynamics of cultural and social interaction. Studying these phenomena is crucial for the proper planning of future migration policies and for understanding the mechanisms of ethnic adaptation.
