This article examines the problem of preserving the historical memory of the exploits of the participants of the Great Patriotic War using the example of the life of Ivan Borisovich Kydykov. The relevance of this work is due to the need to preserve and transmit the memory of millions of people who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the country through the prism of the history of one of the participants in the military events. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive study of the biography of Ivan Borisovich Kydykov, his military achievements. Special attention is paid to identifying the factors that contributed to the manifestation of heroism and solidarity among soldiers, as well as analyzing their actions in the context of key historical events. The methodological basis of the research includes the analysis of archival materials, the collection of field material based on interviews and interviews, as well as the application of an interdisciplinary approach combining methods of historical, sociological and cultural analysis. The results of the study indicate that the life of Ivan Borisovich Kydykov not only illustrates the manifestation of heroism, but also reflects the broader context of the social and historical transformations characteristic of the war period in Russia. His participation in strategically significant battles, such as the Battle of Kursk and the capture of Berlin, highlights the contribution of each soldier to achieving a common victory. In addition, the study confirms that Ivan Borisovich's military experience and patriotism became the basis for the formation of identity not only for himself, but also for the entire generation that survived the hardships of the war. The practical significance of the work lies in substantiating the need to popularize the memory of war heroes through educational programs and publications, which helps to strengthen civic consciousness and increase interest in the history of the Great Patriotic War. The theoretical significance of the research lies in its contribution to the development of scientific ideas about military history and historical memory, as well as in expanding understanding of the role of heroism and civic responsibility in wartime conditions.
