This article presents the results of research and modeling of the design of a special rotary drilling tool. The issues of increasing drilling productivity and reducing drilling costs through the development of a new special design of a rotary drilling tool are considered and studied. The analysis of factors affecting drilling tool wear revealed that tool geometry is the predominant factor. It was also found that drilling tools operate intermittently under fluctuating loads, creating conditions for vibration of the entire drill string. Deviation from the center of inertial rotation increases the drilling force, which leads to intensive wear of the drilling tool. The developed rotary drilling tool has a relatively simple design and is technologically efficient to manufacture. The essence of the proposed drilling scheme is that the cutting tooth, being in continuous contact with the drilled surface, eliminates vibration during the drilling process. The drilling scheme is based on cutting the ground. By changing the geometry of the drilling tool, it becomes possible, through the kinematics of the process, to change the direction and magnitude of the drilling force. With the proper design of the drilling scheme, negative drilling forces can be generated, which do not push the drilling tool away but, on the contrary, pull it in the drilling direction. To accurately determine the geometry, the drilling tool design was modeled using the SolidWorks CAD software package. A prototype of the rotary drilling tool was manufactured.
