Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the effect of high-speed end milling modes of technically pure titanium grade VT1-0 on the quality of the treated surface. The relevance of the work is due to the need to improve the processing efficiency of titanium and its alloys while ensuring the required performance characteristics of the parts. The purpose of the study was to construct mathematical models describing the effect of technological parameters on surface roughness and hardness, as well as to analyze the stress-strain state of the processing process. The study was performed using experimental planning methods, regression analysis, statistical processing of experimental data, and finite element modeling in the Deform-3D Machining software package. Adequate regression models have been obtained, the degree of influence of the spindle speed, feed rate and cutting depth on the processing quality indicators has been established, and their statistical verification has been performed. The simulation results made it possible to determine the distribution of temperatures, deformations, cutting forces, and tool wear during high-speed milling. New dependences have been obtained between the parameters of the cutting mode and the quality indicators of processing technically pure VT1-0 titanium, which make it possible to predict changes in surface roughness and mechanical characteristics of the material during high-speed milling. The practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of using the developed models to select rational modes of high-speed milling, predict the quality of the treated surface and improve the technological processes of processing titanium parts.
