Abstract

This review and analysis of well-known global research in the field of soil cutting with bulldozer blades and other earthmoving and transport machines is aimed at justifying the modernisation or development of new bulldozer blades, possibly of an unconventional shape, and confirming the effectiveness of their working process. The analysis of the review makes it clear that the design or position of the blade working bodies of bulldozers or motor graders determines the productivity and efficiency of the entire soil cutting process. Changes in the angle of the blade and the radius of curvature of its surface, affecting the resistance to digging and the depth of the blade, have a significant impact on the productivity of the process and the efficiency of the work. Many issues have already been addressed by researchers around the world, and the analysis of their work presented in this review article makes it possible to choose the right direction for research, modelling and experimental work. The results of experimental work and finite element modelling are particularly valuable. The analysed sources provide information on scientific laboratories engaged in research on soil cutting and the development of new working equipment and experimental stands.
