This paper presents a systematic review of the factors reducing the service life of metal transmission line towers. The relevance of the study is associated with the long-term operation of a significant portion of existing structures and the need to improve the reliability of power infrastructure. The objective of the work is to analyze and generalize the effects of atmospheric corrosion, cyclic and dynamic loading, fatigue processes, as well as structural and installation features on the durability of transmission towers. The methodology is based on a systematic analysis and synthesis of data from international scientific literature, including comparative evaluation approaches. As a result of the review, the factors influencing the service life are classified into operational, climatic, and structural groups. Particular attention is paid to the interaction between corrosion processes and cyclic loading, as well as to the role of stress concentrations in structural joints. The scientific contribution of the paper lies in the systematization of degradation mechanisms of transmission line towers as an interconnected set of processes. The findings can be applied in assessing the technical condition of structures and in developing strategies for extending their service life.
